What we have achieved so far. *Tree and shrub planting schemes on two prominent roadside verges. *Bulb planting. *Appointment of village Tree Wardens under Leicestershire County Council scheme. *Summer and Winter bedding displays at village entry signs. *Aluminium can recycling. *Tree preservation orders obtained on village landmark trees. *Provision of hanging baskets in centre of the village. *Winner of Leicestershire Rural Community Council’s Village Ventures Competition 1997. *Planting memorial trees, in conjunction with Harborough District Council. *Village tree surveys. *Village clean ups during National Spring Clean month. *150 trees planted on farmland. *200 metres of roadside hedging planted. *Organised local walks using public footpaths and bridle ways. *Mill Field Wood. A millennium project to plant 18 acres of broadleaved woodland. *Winner of Ken Chamberlain environmental award 2001. |
